Project Description:
The Dean Park Neighborhood is a group of locally significant homes, which were built in the early of mid 20th century. The homes have many noteworthy and unusually architectural features, which make the buildings distinctive and unique. There exists a localized storm water drainage concern in the neighborhood. Consistent inundation of some of the homes has jeopardized the viability and life of these structures. The private loss associated with this continual flooding have been considerable. This application is for a small drainage localized project. The project will provide protection to the Dean Park Neighborhood by designing and constructing a flood barrier at the perimeter of the drainage area.

Is this a project related to a federal or state declared disaster? No

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
This project will construct a flood barrier along both the Caloosahatchee River and Billy's Creek to minimize the possibility of water flowing back into the neighborhood. The placement and construction barrier will provide protection of improved property. The flood barrier is to be constructed to an elevation of 8.5 feet which is one foot above the estimated 50 year flood elevation of 7.5 feet.
