Project Description:
The Upper Tampa Bay Library is currently 15,000 square feet; too small. The current populace it's now supporting is over 100,000 up from 66,173 (with a projected growth above 6%), per the updated 2000 Census (September 17, 2002 update), obtained from the Hillsborough City-County Planning Commission. The "Census Tracts" in the Library's area are: 114.12, 114.13, 114.14, 115.05, 115.06, 115.07, 115.08, 116.06, 116.07, 116.08, 116.09 and 117.03. This population does not include apartment dwellers, unoccupied housing, nor does it include the "spillover usage" from Pinellas and Pasco Counties, as the counties have a reciprocal borrowing agreement. This additional populace brings the total population usage of this library to 110,000 to 120,000. This CBIR provides the funds to build the needed additional 10,000 square feet. Funding this project now, saves the taxpayers in this Great State of Florida in the long run and provides a superb educational platform for the populace to learn.
