Toward the back of the Chamber on either side of the door are seating areas for pages who, at the invitation of a Member, work for one week during regular sessions. Their job is to carry messages to the Members and distribute papers. Pages are paid a small stipend and their names and cities appear in the House Journal as a historical record of their service.
