HB 1779 (2004) -  Insurance Agents

Revises various insurance agent provisions; requires surplus lines agent to comply with consumer protection laws; requires nonresident licensees to complete continuing education courses relating to ethics and unauthorized entities engaging in the insurance business; specifies no requirement for nonresident agents to maintain an office in this state; requires agencies in which a nonresident agent maintains or has a financial interest to be subject to requirements applicable to agencies of resident agents in the state; provides requirements for the licensure of nonresident surplus lines agents; revises grounds for adverse actions against surplus lines agents and licensees; deletes prohibitions against nonresident life insurance and health insurance agents having offices in this state.
