GENERAL BILL   by Stansel; RECOMMENDED by Environmental Regulation Committee
Florida Springs Protection Act: Creates the Florida Springs Commission; provides for membership and the appointment of certain members by the Governor and the Legislature; authorizes reimbursement for per diem and travel expenses; authorizes appointment of technical subcommittees; directs state agencies and requests local governments to provide assistance to the commission; requires the Department of Environmental Protection and water management districts to identify and assess certain springs; provides requirements for such assessments; requires the commission to perform certain assessments and recommend strategies for protecting and ensuring the long-term viability of the state's springs; requires a model springs protection plan; provides a dissolution date for the commission.
Effective Date: July 1, 2006.
