LOCAL BILL   by Government Efficiency & Accountability Council and Troutman
Polk County: Creates Polk County Transit Authority; provides boundaries; provides for board of directors; provides powers, functions, & duties of board & authority; provides for ad valorem & non-ad valorem assessments; authorizes authority to borrow money; provides for bonds; provides for powers, duties, rights, obligations, immunities, & addition of lands to Lakeland Area Mass Transit District; requires referendum.
Effective Date: June 27, 2007, except that the provisions of subsection (1) of section 6 authorizing the levy of ad valorem taxation shall take effect only upon express approval by a majority vote of those qualified electors of the area described in subsection (2) of section 2 voting in a referendum to be called by the Polk Transit Authority and held in accordance with the provisions of law currently in force.
