CS/HB 7045 - Public School Curricular Standards
GENERAL BILL   by Policy & Budget Council and Schools & Learning Council and Pickens (CO-SPONSORS) Altman; Carroll; Flores; Homan; Legg; McKeel; Zapata; RECOMMENDED by Policy & Budget Council
Public School Curricular Standards: Requires State Board of Education to review Sunshine State Standards & replace them with enhanced curricular standards; provides for adoption, review, & revision of standards; restricts expenditure of appropriations for FCAT preparation; specifies additional criteria for evaluating instructional materials; revises requirements for statewide assessment program & Commissioner of Education duties; requires FCAT to assess social studies & provides for end-of-course assessments; revises requirements for assessments of writing; authorizes certain test-preparation activities; exempts certain schools from receiving school grades or improvement ratings; revises criteria for awards under Florida School Recognition Program.
