CS/HB 7087 - Juvenile Justice

General Bill   by Policy & Budget Council and Safety & Security Council and Needelman (CO-SPONSORS) Adams; Bullard; Carroll; Davis, D.; Gibson; Kelly; Patterson; Planas; Sasso; Soto
Juvenile Justice: Revises provisions relating to community service; provides diversion options; revises provisions relating to dissemination of criminal justice information; redesignates provisions relating to alterative sanctions; revises development of risk assessment instrument; provides for periodic evaluation of risk assessment instrument; provides for Redirection Program; requires DJJ to establish procedures to provide ordinary medical care, mental health, substance abuse, & developmental disabilities services to youth within juvenile justice continuum; revises provisions relating to data collection; revises provisions relating to contracting powers of DJJ; transfers responsibility for juvenile justice training program from commission to DJJ; revises provisions relating to juvenile justice circuit boards & juvenile justice county councils; deletes limit on renewals of community juvenile justice partnership grants; requires referral to law enforcement of serious offenses; revises provisions relating to school policies concerning crime & victimization; provides for consideration of certain provider types relating to services for children and families in need of services.
