GENERAL BILL   by PreK-12 Policy Committee and Carroll (CO-SPONSORS) Bovo; Clarke-Reed; Coley; Kelly; RECOMMENDED by PreK-12 Policy Committee
Student Discipline and School Safety: Requires that district school board review its policy allowing corporal punishment once every 3 years during district school board meeting; revises content of district school board policies of zero tolerance; revises criteria for reporting acts to law enforcement; requires disciplinary or prosecutorial action taken against student who violates zero tolerance policy to be based on particular circumstances of student's misconduct; encourages school districts to use alternatives to expulsion or referral to law enforcement under certain circumstances.
