HB 7089 - Exceptional Students

General Bill by PreK-12 Policy Committee and Legg (CO-SPONSORS) Workman

Exceptional Students: Revises provisions relating to due process hearings for exceptional students; requires that hearings be conducted by administrative law judge from Division of Administrative Hearings pursuant to contract with DOE; provides that party to hearing related to gifted students may request review by district court of appeal; authorizes district school board to consider change in placement for student who has disability if student violates code of student conduct; requires that State Board of Education comply with IDEA after evaluating & determining that act is consistent with certain principles.
