General Bill
Juvenile Justice:
Authorizes conditions of preadjudicatory release for certain children; permits child to be taken into custody for violations of preadjudicatory release conditions; provides that child taken into custody for violation of preadjudicatory release conditions must appear before judge within 24 hours; provides that detention care under specified provision does not require risk assessment; provides for certain kinds of care prior to hearing in certain circumstances; requires compliance with preadjudicatory release conditions; revises provisions relating to detention care; permits parent or guardian of child to be held in contempt if he or she fails to bring or otherwise prevents child from appearing; revises provisions relating to recommendations by probation officers concerning placement & treatment; specifies that court has power to determine appropriate dispositions; requires that reasons for disposition be stated; permits child to be detained in facility other than consequence unit for certain violations if one is unavailable; permits each county to create juvenile crime prevention fund & provides for additional court cost; provides that no juvenile shall be assessed additional court cost if juvenile & juvenile's parents or other legal guardian are indigent.
