HB 963 (2013) -  Juvenile Sentencing

Provides Sentencing Alternatives For Offenses Committed By Minors Who Would Otherwise Only Be Punishable By Life In Prison; Authorizes life sentences if specified factors are considered; provides that certain offenses committed after specified date punishable by term of years not exceeding life imprisonment by offender who was younger than 18 years of age at time of offense are punishable by terms of imprisonment not exceeding specified numbers of years; provides for review after specified number of years of sentence of juvenile sentenced to life; provides for eligibility screening; provides for hearing; provides factors for consideration; provides for modification of sentence; provides for future review hearings for juveniles who are not resentenced.
