General Bill
Personal Lines Residential Insurance Policies:
Requires the Chief Financial Officer to appoint an advisory committee to review policies and forms; provides for membership; requires the committee to report recommendations to the Office of Insurance Regulation; provides for the Commissioner of Insurance Regulation to approve standard personal lines residential insurance policies and a checklist for each type of such policy; requires insurers to offer such standard policies; authorizes the commissioner to modify such policies; authorizes the Financial Services Commission to adopt rules; requires personal lines property insurance policies to contain an outline of coverage and a checklist of items contained in the policies; specifies checklist contents; specifies outline contents; requires the checklist and outline of insurance coverage to be sent with each renewal of personal lines residential insurance policies; clarifies that homeowners' insurance includes mobile homeowners' and condominium unit owners' insurance for purposes of the outline of coverage; excludes wind losses from provisions specifying liability of insureds; deletes a provision specifying contents of a required notice; requires insurers to provide written notice explaining to policyholders hurricane deductible options for residential property insurance policies; specifies the form and contents of the notice; provides a presumption for a signed notice.
