HB 169 CS (2006) -  Accessible Electronic and Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities

Changes the State Technology Office to the Information Technology Services Program and the Florida Accessible Electronic and Information Technology Office; provides requirements and procedures for governmental agencies in providing access to electronic and information technology for persons with disabilities; provides an undue burden exception; provides standards applicable to electronic and information technology; specifies technical standards, specifications, criteria, and requirements for software applications and operating systems, web-based intranet and Internet information and applications, telecommunications products, video and multimedia products, self-contained closed products, and desktop and portable computers; specifies function performance requirements and criteria; specifies requirements for information, documentation, and support; creates the Florida Accessible Electronic and Information Technology Office in the Department of Management Services; provides powers and duties of the office; specifies special requirements for existing electronic and information technology; requires the department to assess the MyFlorida MarketPlace procurement system and the PeopleFirst human resource enterprise for compliance with electronic and information technology requirements for persons with disabilities; specifies additional compliance requirements; requires governmental units to provide annual compliance reports to the office; requires the office to provide an annual report to the Governor and Legislature; specifies requirements for judicial interpretation of standards; provides an appropriation.
