HB 1229 (2006) -  State University System

Creates the State University System Research and Economic Development Investment Program to be administered by the Board of Governors of the State University System and comprised of the Distinguished Scholars Program and the Research and Economic Development Infrastructure Program; specifies eligibility criteria for state university participation; provides criteria for allocation of appropriated funds for such programs and use of such funds; provides appropriations; deletes certain state university student fee increase restrictions; authorizes university boards of trustees to establish an academic enhancement fee under certain conditions; authorizes university boards of trustees to waive tuition and out-of-state fees for certain purposes.
Effective Date: July 1, 2006.
