Ad Valorem Taxation of Homestead Property: Requires specified disabled veterans to receive ad valorem tax discount on homestead property; provides conditions for discount & application procedures; imposes requirements upon property appraisers who deny applications; provides for appeals to value adjustment board; authorizes reapplication; provides requirements for property appraisers in applying discounts; authorizes governing bodies of counties to waive annual application requirement for veteran's disability discount; requires veterans receiving discounts to notify property appraiser of changes in use of property or degree of disability; provides penalties for noncompliance.
Companion Bill passed CS/CS/SB 1026 Ad Valorem Tax/Disabled Veterans [RPCC] By Finance and Tax and Community Affairs and Haridopolos
Effective Date: upon becoming a law and shall operate retroactively to December 7, 2006.
