General Bill
Firefighter and Municipal Police Pensions:
Revises definition of "firefighter"; authorizes terms of office for board of trustees of firefighters' pension trust fund & municipal police officers' retirement trust fund to be revised under certain circumstances; authorizes plan administrator to withhold funds to pay for premiums for accident, health, & long-term care insurance for retiree & retiree's spouse & dependents; provides exemption from liability under certain circumstances; requires boards of trustees to perform powers subject to certain fiduciary standards & ethics provisions; increases percentage of assets of firefighters' pension trust fund & municipal police officers' retirement trust fund that board of trustees may invest in foreign securities; authorizes certain individuals to sign drafts issued upon firefighters' pension trust fund & municipal police officers' retirement trust fund; requires notice to the Division of Retirement of DMS of certain interlocal agreements; authorizes levy of taxes by municipal ordinance; authorizes distribution of tax proceeds; includes certain consolidated governments under provisions authorizing imposition of state excise tax on property insurance premiums covering certain property for certain purposes.
