CS/HB 551 (2008) -  Retirement

Clarifies that term "compensation" for purposes of benefit retirement program or Public Employee Optional Retirement Program of FRS does not include fees or salary payments made from faculty practice plan authorized by BOG for clinical faculty at state university having faculty practice plan; requires that person appointed to faculty position at state university having faculty practice plan participate in SUS optional retirement program rather than FRS; requires participating employee in optional retirement program to execute contract, not just annuity contract, with designated company in order for employee contributions to be forwarded to company & for interest to accrue; defines term "participant's gross monthly compensation" for purposes of SUS optional retirement program; authorizes certain former participants in Community College Optional Retirement Program or SUS Optional Retirement Program & present mandatory participants in FRS to receive specified amount of service credit under certain conditions; provides specified time period for election of such transfer; limits certain service credit.
