General Bill
Retirement:
Redefines term "termination"; revises provisions relating to participation in Elected Officers' Class for retired members; revises provisions relating to participation in Senior Management Service Class; revises limitations on payment of retirement benefits contributions for certain retired persons; deletes restriction on reemployment of certain personnel by Florida School for Deaf & Blind; prohibits certain persons holding public office from electing to retire while continuing employment in that elected office; deletes provision authorizing employing agency to reemploy retired member as firefighter or paramedic after specified period; provides certain limitations for DROP participants; clarifies that DROP participation cannot be canceled; provides for suspension of DROP benefits to participant who is reemployed; authorizes Division of Retirement to issue benefits directly to certain alternate payees; repeals provisions authorizing developmental research school & the Florida School for Deaf & Blind to reemploy instructional personnel after retirement; repeals provisions relating to authorization of charter schools to reemploy instructional personnel after retirement; provides that certain persons are ineligible for renewed membership in FRS; repeals provisions relating to interstate compacts for pension portability; revises term "eligible employee."
