Explanations of Vote:
Gantt -
My no vote is due to lingering and unanswered questions regarding the constitutionality of this bill. During my questions of the bill sponsor, I attempted to gain clarity regarding the access to the funds and whether all impacted groups would be able to get assistance when needed. Unfortunately, my questions were not directly answered and the need for transparency for our constituents was superseded by the bill sponsor's lack of ability to maintain professional decorum. As legislators our duty is to ensure that we pass laws that are not only constitutionally sound but are for the greater progress of all Floridians. This bill does not meet that threshold due to the aforementioned reasons set forth therein.
