HB 1049 (2003) -  Professions

Revises provisions relating to the examinations required to practice in this state as an engineer; requires certification of any business organization offering engineering services to the public; revises provisions relating to disciplinary penalties to increase the administrative fine and authorize the imposition of restitution; revises duties of the Board of Professional Engineers, the Florida Engineers Management Corporation, and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation with respect to regulation of the practice of engineering; provides that the president of the management corporation shall be selected by the management corporation and shall serve as executive director of the board, subject to approval of the board; eliminates the position of contract administrator; revises the submission date for the annual status report; restricts the requirement of posting a performance bond to certain persons not employed by the management corporation; revises duties and authority to investigate complaints and prosecute cases; exempts state agencies from the on-line procurement of professional services and from the payment of fees required pursuant thereto.

Effective Date: This act shall take effect October 1, 2003
