General Bill
Medical Malpractice
:
Creates the Access to Emergency Medical Services and Care Act; provides requirements for contracts between providers of emergency services and care and governmental contractors; requires hospitals that enter into such contracts to provide notice of the agency relationship with the governmental contractor; requires a quality assurance program; provides for malpractice litigation costs and liability limits; provides requirements for a presuit investigation of medical negligence claims involving emergency medical services and care; provides immunity from civil damages for providers of emergency medical services and care; provides limitations on such immunity.
Effective Date:
This act shall take effect July 1, 2003, and applies to any cause of action filed after June 30, 2003
