HB 1125 CS (2005) -  Studies on Health Care

Creates a commission to study the effect of the 2004 hurricane season on certain hospitals and identify hospitals unable to comply with the Florida Building Code or located in flood-prone areas; provides for membership, reimbursement, and duties of the study commission; requires the Department of Community Affairs to provide staff for the study commission; requires the commission to submit a report and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature; creates a health insurance plan study group; specifies membership; requires the Agency for Health Care Administration and the Office of Insurance Regulation to provide staff support; requires the study group to investigate certain issues relating to health insurance plans; requires the group to meet and submit recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature; directs the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability to conduct a study to evaluate whether the State of Florida should join the Nurse Licensure Compact and to submit a report to the Legislature; provides that a licensee that failed to renew its ambulatory surgical center license may meet the requirements of the Florida Building Code under certain specified circumstances.
Effective Date: upon becoming a law.
