HB 1569 (2005) -  Gaming

Creates the "Florida Gaming and Educational Supplement Act"; provides for the Division of Pari-mutuel Wagering of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to implement, administer, and regulate slot machine gaming; provides for licensing, regulation, fees, and taxes; provides for appropriations by the Legislature; provides for public education funding; creates a Citizens Education Funding Oversight Board to attend certain legislative proceedings; provides for appointment of the director of the Division of Pari-mutuel Wagering subject to confirmation and removal by the Governor and Cabinet; provides qualifications for the director; provides for personnel; provides for transportation of certain gaming devices in accordance with federal law; provides that specified violations related to slot machine gaming constitute racketeering activity; provides that certain debt incurred in violation of specified provisions relating to slot machine gaming constitutes unlawful debt; provides for the amendment of certain pari-mutuel licenses.
Effective Date: upon becoming a law.
