General Bill
Property Tax Relief:
Establishes Florida Residents Property Tax Relief Program; provides for property tax relief benefits; provides formula for refunding portion of property taxes paid based on household income; provides that claims for tax refunds are personal to claimant & do not survive claimant's death; provides procedure for submitting refund claims to DOR & payment from fund managed by DFS; provides date range for filing claims & extensions of time; provides for program administration by DOR; provides for audit of claims & repayment or credit for excess refunds; provides procedure for denial of claims; provides for disallowance of specified claims; provides for appeal of claim denials; provides that income from refund may not result in reduction of other social welfare benefits; provides that claim application form be at specified reading level; provides for program outreach plan; provides for cooperation between DOR, DOH, DCFS, & DEA & advocates & other interested agencies & organizations; provides appropriation.
