SB 80 (2009) -  School Progression & Retention/Reading Proficiency [SPSC]

Revises the components of school district student progression programs. Eliminates guidelines for allocating resources for school district remedial and supplemental instruction. Eliminates mandatory retention requirements for certain students in grade three. Eliminates midyear promotion. Eliminates standards for exemption from mandatory retention. Revises guidelines for remedial reading instruction and intervention strategies, etc.
Effective Date: Upon becoming law
