Explanations of Vote:

  • Allen -
Finally, this most unfair tax is being repealed. This tax was contrary to the most basic principles of our American Free Enterprise System. To tax AGAIN the hard earned money, investment and savings that people have been able to put together from their earnings, which already have been subjected to income tax, was wrong. Taxing savings and investments which people use to take care of themselves in retirement not only hurts our seniors but discourages active economic investment, which is a key to our future economic expansion and success. Florida's tax policies must be based on two important principles....FAIRNESS AND ECONOMIC COMPETITIVENESS. Repealing the Annual Intangible Personal Property Tax is the best example of following these principles.
