HB 379 CS (2004) -  Protection and Care for Elders

Reclassifies the offense of aggravated abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult from a second degree felony to a first degree felony; requires identification and investigation of elder abuse training for certified law enforcement officers by a time certain; provides that an officer's certification shall become inactive in certain circumstances related to the failure to complete such training; provides for the establishment of a memory disorder clinic at Morton Plant Hospital in Pinellas County; provides for the Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida to establish a workgroup; specifies the purpose and responsibilities of the workgroup; provides for the Secretary of the Department of Elderly Affairs and the Secretary of the Department of Children and Families to appoint members to the workgroup; provides for a report by the workgroup.
