HB 849 CS (2005) -  Public K-12 Education

Provides guidelines for determining the residency of an exceptional student with a disability who resides in a residential facility and receives special instruction or services; requires the placing authority in a parent's state of residence to pay the cost of such instruction, facilities, and services for a nonresident exceptional student with a disability; provides requirements of the Department of Education and school districts with respect to financial obligations; provides responsibilities of residential facilities that educate exceptional students with disabilities; provides applicability; defines the term "parent" for purposes of the section; requires the Department of Education to coordinate the development of an individual education plan form for use in developing and implementing individual education plans for exceptional students; requires the form to be available to school districts to facilitate the use of an individual education plan when a student transfers.
