General Bill
Florida Companion Registry:
Creates Florida Companion Registry within DOS; provides for creation & distribution of forms; provides for rulemaking; provides eligibility requirements for state-registered companions; provides registration & termination procedures; provides for recordkeeping; provides for notice to Office of Vital Statistics; provides for fee; provides for automatic termination under certain circumstances; provides that registered companion agreement created by subdivision of state is not state-registered companion agreement; requires subdivisions of state that use state's definition of state-registered companion for purposes of companion benefits must allow state registration certificate to satisfy any registration requirements; requires notice by subdivisions of such acceptance; provides that companion relationship registrations created by any public entity are not affected; provides that state-registered companions have same visitation rights as spouses in specified health care facilities; provides that any common law remedy is not affected; provides that registered companion status is not substantial equivalent of marriage; revises numerous other provisions of law to include applicability to state-registered companions.
