HB 253 (2003) -  Statewide Assessment Program for Public Schools

Revises provisions relating to design and implementation of the FCAT; requires universal design principles that prevent unintended obstacles for students with disabilities; requires the Commissioner of Education to expand the statewide assessment program to include multiple assessment options leading to a standard high school diploma for students with disabilities; provides for student accommodations when taking the FCAT or alternate assessments; provides for an appeals process; provides for a State Accommodations Panel to review new testing accommodations; provides for school district accountability for all students.
Effective Date: This act shall take effect July 1, 2003
