HB 1243 CS (2004) -  Protection of Victims of Sexual Battery and Lewd or Lascivious Offenses

Creates the "Lauren Book Protection Act"; requires the court to prohibit certain offenders from having direct or indirect contact with the victim of the offense; authorizes the court to reconsider orders prohibiting the contact in certain circumstances; provides criminal penalties for violating the order; provides for a consecutive sentence to previous sentences imposed for convictions of certain offenses; provides criminal penalties for willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly following, harassing, or cyberstalking the victim in violation of an order prohibiting contact; provides for a consecutive sentence to previous sentences imposed for convictions of certain offenses; designates the offense of aggravated stalking in violation of a court order on the offense severity ranking chart of the Criminal Punishment Code.
Companion Bill passed CS/SB 1118 Lauren Book Protection Act By Criminal Justice and Cowin
Effective Date: July 1, 2004, and shall apply to offenses committed on or after that date.
