HB 53 (2007) -  Juvenile Defendants

Requires public defender to represent indigent child taken into custody on specified grounds; requires that child be given meaningful opportunity to confer with counsel; requires court to appoint counsel for indigent child if child's parent or legal guardian is alleged victim; provides that parents or legal guardian shall not be liable for fees, charges, or costs on court's finding that parent or legal guardian is victim of child's offense.
Effective Date: July 1, 2007.
