General Bill
Nurses:
Increases the period of time which members of the Florida Retirement System who are employed as registered nurses may participate in the DROP; provides a statement of proper and legitimate state purpose; provides for grants to hospitals for nurse recruitment and retention; provides an appropriation to the Department of Health for such purpose and requires private match of appropriated funds; provides eligibility criteria; requires applicants for nursing licensure by endorsement to demonstrate the ability to communicate in the English language; provides that applicant awards under the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program shall be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Effective Date:
This act shall take effect July 1, 2003
